Applying for a Firearms Licence

Congratulations on your decision to apply for a firearms licence and get involved with one of the fastest growing sports in Australia.

SSAA NSW is proud to promote the safe, fun and unique range of shooting sports that are available. Shooting is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages (12 and over), backgrounds and athletic abilities. Increasingly it is recognised as a great family sport, so why not look to sign up some of your family!!

Now that you have made the decision to apply for your NSW Firearms Licence there are some things you must know.

The first step in applying for your licence is to contact the NSW Firearms Registry and ask to receive licence application forms. You can contact the Firearms Registry on 1300 362 562.

Please note SSAA NSW can only support A/B Category Licence for Target Shooting & Hunting and a Category G Collector Licence.

In NSW you must have a genuine reason to obtain a Firearms Licence. This can be target shooting, hunting or collecting. To support each of these genuine reasons you must belong to an approved club.

Fortunately members of SSAA NSW can use their membership to support their genuine reason for having a firearms licence.

If you would like to become a member of SSAA you can download our application form by clicking the link below or visiting the Membership tab at the top of this page.
